Structural Integration
(aka Rolfing®)

austin-rolfing.jpeg

Rolfing® Structural Integration is a form of bodywork that focuses on the fascia, the connective tissue that wraps around the muscles and organs, to improve posture and range of motion. Deep tissue manipulation and movement are utilized to realign the body, reduce stress, treat chronic pain, injuries, and musculoskeletal imbalances. Somatically, we explore the relationship between the body's structure and its function.

Josh employs the Kinesis® 12-Series, which is a system of 12 sessions that works to systematically and holistically reorganize the body and its relationship to gravity. The 12-series works to consecutively realign, balance, and integrate the body's connective tissue matrix, often resulting in increased body awareness, improved posture, and greater ease of movement.

Deep tissue massage is a massage technique that focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep pressure on the contracted areas, either following or going across the grain of the muscles, tendons and fascia. This type of massage is beneficial in releasing chronic muscle tension and can help improve blood flow and range of motion.

A recovery massage is designed to help those with overworked bodies and overstressed minds. It utilizes techniques such as deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, sports massage, Swedish massage and acupressure to help release muscle tension, reduce inflammation, and improve circulation. The massage therapist will use their hands, elbows, and forearms to apply pressure to the affected area. They may also use cupping, stretching, and traction to help you relax. A workout massage can help enhance performance, reduce fatigue, and improve flexibility and range of motion.

Cupping

Cupping massage is a type of massage therapy that uses specialized cups to create a suction on the skin. This suction can be used to help relax muscles, stimulate circulation, and improve range of motion. It is commonly used for sports recovery as it helps to reduce inflammation and increase lymphatic drainage. Cupping massage can also be used to release tight muscles, improve posture, and reduce pain. It is typically utilized when more traditional massage techniques are not enough to address the issue.

Percussive therapy utilizes a massage gun to provide an even deeper deep-tissue massage. It can be used to relieve chronic stress and help athletes recover faster from physical activity. It works by providing rapid, short-duration pulses of pressure deep into the muscle belly and connective tissue to break up knots and stimulate blood flow. The benefits of using a massage gun include improved flexibility and range of motion, improved circulation, reduced muscle tension and soreness, and faster post-workout recovery. It can also be used to relieve tension headaches and aid in relaxation.

Weighted Blankets

Weighted Blanket Therapy.png

A weighted blanket is a blanket filled with many tiny beads to provide extra weight. This extra weight helps to reduce stress, improve sleep, and reduce anxiety. The weight of the blanket provides deep pressure stimulation to the nervous system which helps to relax the body and mind. Massage therapists often use weighted blankets to help with relaxation during massage treatments. The extra weight helps to calm the nervous system and reduce anxiety, allowing the patient to relax and enjoy the massage. The use of a weighted blanket can help to reduce stress levels, improve sleep, and create a calming environment for massage therapy.
